Lithia Springs Elementary School
Built on a 23-acre site located within the Alafia River flood basin, the ground floor of this entire school had to be elevated 5 feet above existing grade. In addition, over 9 acres of the site is comprised of protected jurisdictional wetlands. It was determined that a two-story school would reduce the building footprint by about 35 percent, helping both the flood plain mitigation and site utilization.
Educational Specifications called for 4 Kindergarten, 15 Primary, 12 Intermediate, and 5 Exceptional Education Classrooms. Additionally, the facility contains 3 Skills Development Labs, Music, Media, P.E., Multipurpose, Food Service, and Administration. The structural frame of this 87,662 square foot school is precast concrete with split face concrete masonry veneer.
