Bowers-Whitley Career Center
Tampa, Florida 2004

Located in what has been for many years a high crime area of the city, Bowers-Whitley Career Center along with an adjoining 600 student elementary school, community service and recreation center has served to revitalize and energize an underprivileged neighborhood while providing a clean and wholesome educational environment. The project consists of five academic buildings connected by canopied entrances and a separate food service building.

Bowers-Whitley Career Center provides educational opportunities for approximately 600 high school aged students who are considered “at risk” or who have dropped out of school and wish to complete their high school education. The programs offered at this facility have been designed to afford career-based training for students already in the workforce or planning to enter the workforce after graduation without pursuing secondary education. Programs offered include Building Trades, Automotive Trades, Commercial Cooking, Business Education, Health Occupations, Child Care and Computer Sciences.
